Boating Activity Dates
Smooth Sailing
Even the smoothest sailing rarely leaves you dry, so come ready to get wet! Whether or not you already know what a boom is, Smooth Sailing will help you learn the ropes and feel confident in a sailboat. Starting on land, you’ll learn how to tie some basic knots and all about a boat’s parts and how they work. You will enjoy a rigging challenge before you even hit the water! Then we’ll take you out in a boat, where you’ll learn how to harness the wind and maneuver around the lake. Once you are able to demonstrate your skills, we’ll set you free on the water.

Can You Canoe?
Did you get introduced to boating at camp over the summer, or have you always wanted to learn? Join us for this fun boating workshop where we’ll go from the basics to sending you out on the water by yourself in just a couple of hours. First we’ll discuss boating safety issues and how to use paddles to get us where we want to go. After you master your skills on land, jump in a boat and see what you can do on the water.

Mini Boaters
Mini Boaters gives our youngest Girl Scouts a taste of what boating is all about. Take a tour of the boathouse and learn all about the many kinds of boats at Camp Peairs. After we cover safety skills, select just the right life jacket, talk about why you need a whistle on a boat and even what to do if you fall out, we’ll take you for a ride on the lake and you can help us paddle along.
