Splash through swimming obstacles, paddle through boating battles, and plot to win the water wars. Cook experimental meals over campfires, find your way with a compass, show your courage on night hikes, and then relax while sleeping under the twinkling stars. RED FLAG ALERT! The Girl Scouts of Central Illinois has issued a council-wide search for the strongest and best. GSCI is recruiting these brave girls to learn extreme survival skills. Current information indicates this team will need to perfect the use of a self-made bow and arrow to retrieve food to cook over fire. Take cover in self-made shelters and carefully hike a wooded trail guided by the stars. Training is expected to peak mid-week as the team must learn to ride a horse and traverse the water by boating and swimming. Who: Girls entering grades 7-12 Date: Sunday, June 15, 2014 – Friday, June 20, 2014 Location: Camp Tapawingo Time: 2:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. Fee: $270 per girl Min/Max: 6/20 girls Due to the extreme nature of this camp, it’s recommended that attendees have attended at least two prior camp sessions. Camper need to limit their packing to only what they can carry. Backpacking pacs are suggested.

Get ready to hit the trails! Spend some time in the arena brushing up on your riding skills before heading out into the wilderness on horseback. Spend this week-long camp using your skills out on the trails as you learn how to maneuver your horse through rugged terrain, use proper tools to help clear safe trails, and pack a picnic lunch to enjoy with your pony. Once you hang up your helmet for the day, enjoy campfire snacks while listening to tales of horses on the trail. Pull on your boots and saddle up for some real rodeo fun! Learn all about rodeo events and show off in the arena doing flag races, pole bending, and barrel racing. When you’ve hung up your spurs for the day, have fun in a clown costume contest, learn to juggle, and face paint your friend just like a rodeo clown! Then relax around the campfire and cool off in the pool while you tell your friends all about your rodeo adventures.
