Challenge Course Activity Dates
GSCI’s challenge courses offer low and high ropes courses and a variety of ground initiatives designed to enhance student leadership, teamwork, and problem solving skills, as well as improve communication, cooperation, support, trust, and risk taking capabilities. Low Ropes Courses explore and recognize the benefits of highly effective teams and team building. Groups will experience enhanced cooperation, communication, and appreciation for individual strengths and differences. High Ropes Courses take your group to a higher level by utilizing elements that are 20 and 40 feet in the air. Participants use ropes and harnesses to negotiate the course as well as a zip line.

Location: Camp Widjiwagan, Springfield
Time: 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. or 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Fee: $15 half day / $30 full day - No fee if not participating
Min/Max: 6/15
Must be in grade five or older to participate. Low ropes course is recommended but not required before participating in the high course. Please indicate low or high ropes course and provide your girl and/or troop goals on the registration form. Each person must complete a Release of Liability Waiver and Health History Form (on our website) in order to participate. If additional information is needed please list next to each person’s name. Participants may sign up for either the high ropes course or low ropes courses or both, except for days which specify that only the low ropes course is available.

development, communication and support.
Girl Scouts of Central Illinois has two locations for you to choose. Camp Tapawingo in Peoria, IL and Camp Widjiwagan in Springfield, IL.
GSCI’s Challenge Course program offers low ropes and high ropes courses at each site and several various ground initiatives designed to enhance your student's leadership, teamwork, and problem solving skills, as well as improve levels of communication, cooperation, support, trust, and risk taking capabilities.
For girls to participate in the challenge course girls must be in the 5th grade or older to participate.
A challenge course is a series of mental challenges and physical obstacles that help to build.

Team Building is an organizational practice that seeks to improve team effectiveness through cooperation, trust and communication. Programs are customized to fit the specific needs of each group.
Low Ropes Course
Explore and recognize the benefits of highly effective teams and team building. Groups will experience enhanced cooperation, communication and appreciation for individual strengths and weaknesses.
We highly recommend completing the low ropes course before participating in high ropes course.
High Ropes Course
Take your group to a higher level by utilizing elements that are 20 and 40 feet in the air. Camp Widjiwagan is a double-decker course that provides a climbing wall. Participants use ropes and harnesses to negotiate two levels of the course as well as a 300 foot zip line. Our high ropes course can be used in conjunction with our low ropes course, or as a stand-alone team building experience. Develop leadership in a unique, exciting and fun environment!
Safety
Our staff is fully trained in challenge course facilitation and certified in First Aid and CPR. Our courses are inspected by Challenge Options Incorporated annually. Girl Scouts of Central Illinois camp facilities are accredited by ACA. All participants will be required to fill out a participant release form and health history form.
We will accommodate our Challenge Course program to your group whether it is a troop, youth group, or corporation. For the best group experience a group of 15 is the maximum 6 minimum.
Registered Girl Scout Rates
$15 per Girl Scout half day (3-4 hrs)
$30 per Girl Scout full day (5-6 hrs)
Leaders there is no charge if you are not participating.
Non-Girl Scout Rates
$20 half day (3-4 hours)
$35 full day (5-6 hours)
Corporate Rates
$25 half day (3-4 hours)
$40 full day (5-6 hours)
Fees are per person. Each program includes free continental breakfast or snacks & drink. We can also customize your experience with overnight accommodations. Meeting rooms are available.
