Experience exciting outdoor adventures that will challenge you and your group to a new level.
It is important to give our girls opportunities to develop or improve their outdoor skills in different areas. Research has shown that integrating Environmental
Education and outdoor activities into children’s daily lives received lower ratings for behavioral conduct disorders, anxiety, depression, and obesity than peers with less access to nature. Only through hands on outdoor activities can we truly advance our efforts to have the nation’s youth develop a lifetime of emotional awareness of the natural environment.
Girl Scouts of Central Illinois offers a variety of outdoor adventures including camping (resident, day & core), challenge course, horseback riding, boating and archery.
Girl Scouts of Central Illinois is excited to offer a new environmental education program for schools and groups of all ages. Participants will supplement their classroom learning with hands-on, curriculum-driven activities at GSCI’s beautiful camp facilities. Visiting a natural area in different seasons provides a wonderful opportunity to teach students about nature’s cycles and processes in a way that is difficult to teach from a textbook. Our goal is to help young people gain an appreciation for the natural world through interactive educational opportunities in an “outdoor classroom.” These field trip experiences are designed to increase environmental awareness and appreciation, which we believe will help children to develop increased understanding and respect for the environment, for themselves, and for others.
